So earlier today BIG BANG's music video for "Loser" came out on YouTube and soon after "Bae Bae" was also posted! Now the video has been rated 19+, why? It's not because of anything sexual so don't be alarmed! Representative of YG Entertainment Yang Hyun Suk told the media “Big bang is now all in their mid-20s or late 20s, the members and
directors made the MV to express the feeling of the song without any
restrictions.”
To those of you who aren't from South Korea and can't understand the lyrics (I'm not from South Korea too), it's described as flirty and affectionate. The members have each expressed their freedom in their own respective way in the video.
G Dragon's theme is pretty chic, surrounded by female mannequins that look like models.
Taeyang was dressed as a cowboy along with a beautiful girl, as seen on this shot they look very affectionate.
T.O.P's theme was very vibrant and colourful. A 'fun' concept just like his personality.
I don't work on bright colours too much but on T.O.P's concept, the colours really complement each other and works as a whole to successfully express a really joyful vibe. That's a good way for me to make use of colours on my conceptual scenery or character designs.
Daesung's theme is water, he's dressed as a pirate and seems to be stuck in a little island.
Seungri has a bright smokey look on his theme and a pair of bright white female hands wrapped around him.
The theme for Seungri is actually my favourite, I mostly work on black and white drawings and ink/watercolour figure designs. This is an effective way to make use of the white over the black and to make the figure appear subtle from the shadows.
At the ending of the video, the boys get together and get super 'happy' with the girls.
Overall I really enjoy the concept of the video and how expressive it is with its freedom. It would be a perfect inspiration for my own conceptual designs. To have vibrant yet soft colours.
